Basic life support (BLS) is the essence for saving lives following cardiac arrest. It can also be described as the maintenance of a clear airway and support of breathing and the circulation in cases of cardiac arrest, without the use of equipment other than a simple airway device or protective shield.

AHA certified BLS Provider and Instructor Course:

BLS is designed to provide to a level of medical care which is used for victims of life-threatening illnesses or injuries. The rudimentary aspects of BLS include immediate recognition of sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) and activation of the emergency response system, early cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and rapid defibrillation with an automated external defibrillator (AED). Prime recognition and response to heart attack and stroke are also considered part of BLS.

Course Format

Initial Provider Course requires skills practice and skills testing.

Course Completion Card or Certificate
Students participate in simulated clinical scenarios and learning stations. They work with an AHA BLS Instructor to complete BLS skills practice and skills testing as well as a complete a written exam.

Centre for Medical Stimulation BLS for Healthcare Professional Course Completion Card is valid for two years.
